Today I completed the oil underpainting for the my first pastel of 2009. 19 x 24 inches on Wallis paper.

I agree. Looking forward to see the pastel painting on this.
It is a fascinating underpainting. I had no idea pastel would adhere to an oil surface. When you post the finished product could you give us a couple of close ups?
